Performance, music theory and audio-technology are the three major components in Instrumental Music. Students have the opportunity to perform in the fall and spring showcases and work together on duets, small chamber groups and larger full group rehearsals. Theory covers standard music notation, harmonic skills, chord progressions, and improvisation techniques using the blues scale. Technology is integrated throughout all instruction and students use computer software in the classroom, piano lab and professional recording studio. All students can become certified in Pro Tools, the industry standard for music production. Instrumental students have the option to do internships, major in music or audio-technology in college and are prepared for the many challenges of the music industry when they graduate. |
