How to Apply
Dear Prospective Freshmen:
chARTer~TECH is a public school that offers a full academic curriculum and specialized training in the performing arts. All residents from throughout New Jersey are eligible for enrollment. However, a chARTer~TECH education will not be right for every student. Before considering enrollment, please review the Student Handbook, Educational Program and other information on the school website. If you like what you see, follow the application procedure below. STEP ONE: ATTEND AN OPEN HOUSE
Parents/guardians and students interested in chARTer~TECH should attend an Open House to learn more and decide whether chARTer~TECH is the right choice for high school. Shadowing days and auditions will be scheduled during the Open House.
STEP TWO: STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN AN AUDITION AND SHADOWING VISIT
All prospective freshmen are encouraged to complete an audition in their prospective major and a shadowing visit. Auditions are used for placement purposes. A shadowing visit allows students to attend academic and arts classes while school is in session. Audition specifics are posted on our school’s website.
STEP THREE: STUDENT COMPLETES APPLICATION
After students attend an audition and shadowing day, they may submit an official application for admission to chARTer~TECH. The names of all applicants who have auditioned and shadowed will be placed in a random lottery to be held in January. Students from our districts of residence (Mainland Regional District, Ocean City and Sea Isle City) will receive first preference.
STEP FOUR: STUDENT COMPLETES ENROLLMENT PROCESS
Along with your parents, students who are selected in the lottery must complete an enrollment form and attend a pre-admission conference. At that time you will be required to take a math placement test. You must also provide a copy of your most recent report card and evidence that you are enrolled in your NJ school district of residence for the year you are applying to chARTer~TECH.
In accordance with NJ Charter Schools Program Act and DOE regulations, we enroll students who apply by the stipulated enrollment date to fill available vacancies. Thereafter, students will be placed on a waiting list according to each grade and major. Space is limited, so if you think chARTer~TECH is right for you; contact us at your earliest convenience.
